Eppendorfer Landstraße 88 Hamburg, Hamburg 20249 Germany +49 (0)40 480 6000 http://www.konditorei-lindtner.de |
The Lindtner cafe in the beautiful Eppendorf district is traditional with a certain Hanseatic charm. It's not cheap, but a great place for a quiet cup of coffee and a quick read through the daily papers or a chat. The stylish ambiance at Lindtner´s attracts different types of people who like to watch and be watched, and treat themselves to something nice. In summer, you can sit outside and watch the bustle in the shopping street. Apart from a great variety of cakes and gorgeous gateaux, the cafe has several breakfast variations and a large buffet. Lots of sweet treats are also available for take away. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A cup of coffee and a magazine |
Wohlwillstraße 49 Hamburg, Hamburg 20359 Germany +49 (0)40 4318 2112 http://www.caffe-latte.de/ |
This is one of Wohlwillstraes nice little inviting gastronomic businesses. From the inside you can watch the streetlife through the former shops large windows, while on the other hand plants keep people from looking in. In good weather there is also enough room at the entrance to sit outside. With one of the cafe's magazines in one hand and a good cup of coffee in the other you can spend brilliant lazy afternoons here. Those who like to sleep can still order one of the four breakfast variations later on, enjoy the daily lunch special or some delicious antipasti. A freshly made fruit cocktail wakes you up and makes for a good start to the day. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Café, roast house and pizza place in one |
Große Brunnenstraße 60 Hamburg, Hamburg 22763 Germany +49 (0)40 390 5511 |
This pleasant café in Ottensen is remarkably versatile. It is a café, a restaurant with first class fresh pizza, and a coffee roasting house in one. At the Katelbach you can enjoy a cup of ground coffee or a tasty snack and browse through its many magazines for hours. The fine coffee which is roasted in the basement here is also rather popular in surrounding cafes and restaurants. The crisp, faintly smoky pizza with freshly prepared toppings is excellent, as are the beautiful evening meals and the homemade biscuits at the Katelbach. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Relaxing Italian bar-cafe in Levantehaus |
Mönckebergstraße 7 Levantehaus Hamburg, Hamburg 20095 Germany +49 (0)40 3039 9225 |
This cafe bar is situated beneath the dome of the Levantehaus, which is illuminated at night. The place in one of the most exclusive city centre shopping areas is Italian - the staff speak with an accent, the coffee is con latte and the espresso and cappuccino are heavenly. This is the right place to take a break from the bustle in the shops and think about your next holiday, bang in the centre of grey Hamburg. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Modern campus café |
Edmund-Siemers-Allee 1 Hamburg, Hamburg 20146 Germany +49 (0)40 4149 8155 |
In former times one had to walk through a second-hand bookshop in order to reach the Café Libresso, and in good weather the guests used to gather on a nice old terrace. But a lot has changed since the café moved into the new wing-building of the main University building. There still is a second-hand bookshop next door, and the formerly somewhat shabby coffee-handout which has changed into a stylish city-café, still can´t complain about a lack of visitors. The regulars have changed a bit - less going-to-be teachers, more going-to-be lawyers - but you still pick up the inexpensive hot drinks and biscuits yourself and nicely put your used dishes onto a little trolley afterwards. The café with the stylish ambience makes for a nice location for a chat, and you can also read and study a bit here, when it is less busy. Review © 2007, Wcities |
