Syrian-Lebanese restaurant |
Rentzelstraße 50 Hamburg, Hamburg 20146 Germany +49 (0)40 45 4975 |
The A´Shamra is a Syrian-Lebanese restaurant near the university. It has North African and Middle Eastern specialties, which are quite unusual by Hamburg standards. Every Friday night belly-dancing provides a special and colourful attraction for the guests within the otherwise mainly white room, which is decorated with Oriental accessories. The clientele is a good mixture of students and businessmen. The Mazza-plates with sometimes over 30 appetizer variations are a must. This starter can also be delivered to your home along with unleavened bread for groups of ten or more people. The same applies for several vegetable dishes, and hot meals like filled lamb on rice, for example. The tender kebab with mince meat skewers is also recommended. An Arabian coffee with interesting spices rounds the meal off nicely. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Egyptian cuisine |
Loogestieg 3 Hamburg, Hamburg 20249 Germany +49 (0)40 4607 1010 |
Isis, who gave this Egyptian restaurant in Eppendorf its name, was both Osiris' sister and wife. The facade of the half-timbered building does not exactly look very Egyptian. But inside there are cushions and if you want, you can lean back into them for a while after your meal and dream of the Nile while you enjoy a coffee or a date juice. On the menu at Isis there are a choice of Egyptian dishes with chicken or seafood plus other specialities from the Mediterranean. Since many ingredients are directly imported from the countries of their origin, they contribute to the great authenticity of the meals. Review © 2007, Wcities |
