Make sure that you are hungry before coming here because the portions are gigantic. Great for families, the restaurant is situated in a pleasant building with a car park on the premises. The menu includes seasonal meat and vegetable dishes as well as a fantastic selection of local fish specialities. The plaice, served with home-made potato salad, is a firm favorite.

The dishes are presented on a somewhat unusual menu, which is made to look like a newspaper. The emphasis is on fish dishes, with plaice being a popular choice. Guests can sit outside on the banks of the canal during good weather.

It provides you with proof (as if it were needed) that potatoes are very versatile. It is very cosy in this Old Town cellar. The many regulars and lots of tourists know and appreciate this, so it's best to book in advance. The interior has more than a slight potato theme-even the waiters and waitresses are dressed in potato-sacks. You can do a lot with potatoes-at very moderate prices. The menu has tasty soups, soufflés, sweet potato-pancakes, meat and fish dishes and even a potato spirit to finish off the meal.

The menu is translated into nine languages, definitely appreciated by all the international guests. The Old Commercial Room distinguishes itself by its interior. "Welcome on board" should actually be the first words spoken upon entering the place. A combination of mahogany wood, brass lamps and ship's accessories create a cosy maritime atmosphere. Above all else, Labskaus is a firm favourite and also a visual experience for newcomers here. Among other classic dishes, Pears, beans and bacon is highly recommended.
