Indochina comes to Hamburg! |
Neumühlen 11 Hamburg, Hamburg 22763 Germany +49 (0)40 3980 7880 http://www.indochine.de/ |
Time has come to begin your culinary journey to former Indochina – the current Laos, Kampuchea and Vietnam. At IndoChine, enjoy Vietnamese specialties influenced by French cuisine. In a unique atmosphere and design, the restaurant mixes the culture and food from the former French colony with the modern customs of Europe. While enjoying the view over Hamburg harbor from the terrace, try their famous prawn, duck or spring rolls. Raw food lovers should go for one of their Larb dishes (marinated raw tuna, salmon or beef). The seafood Menu is amazing and won't leave you dissatisfied. Vegetarians will find a great selection of dishes too. If you just want to have a drink on the Terrace, go to the Bar SáVánh that offers special cocktails on Blue Hour during the sunset. For a refreshing adventure, head towards Alpha Noble IceBar in the same building. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic, candlelit cafe |
Förderkreis Koppel 66 e Haus für Kunst und Handwerk Hamburg, Hamburg 20099 Germany +49 (0)40 4327 0934 http://www.koppel66.de/ |
Café Koppel lies nicely tucked away behind a backyard off the Lange Reihe. Everything here is ecologically sound - down to the food and the Transfair tea and coffee. The clientele is made up of both social scientists and those for whom eco-friendly is 'in'. You can sit comfortably here, listening to classical music by candlelight. From October-March there is a live programme on the first Wednesday of the month. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Swabian cuisine in a former monastery |
Borsteler Chaussee 1 Hamburg, Hamburg 22453 Germany +49 (0)40 511 7877 |
This restaurant is not located in the city centre, but as Swabian and Bavarian cuisine and specialties from Baden are a bit exotic for Hamburg standards, it is well worth the short journey. A closer look at the menu also reveals a choice of Alsatian dishes. The Markgraf is located in an historical building with a very beautiful old stained glass door, which separates two of the dining rooms. It used to belong to Eppendorf monastery. Complimentary goats cheese and a platter of tempting starters provide a sample of the culinary treats on offer here. The mains include game and corn fed chicken dishes, which are very nice and very filling. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Vegetarian restaurant chain |
Wandsbeker Zollstrasse 87 Hamburg, Hamburg 22041 Germany +49 (0)40 6891 5134 |
Light, healthy and with lots of vitamins - these are the most important criteria for food served at Mr. Green´s. And the nicely arranged and seasoned green food is even more attractive as it is available at inexpensive prices. The salad variations and vegetable platters are particularly tasty with freshly pressed juices, but wines and prosecco can also be found on the menu. Non-vegetarians can enjoy shrimps, salmon and poultry dishes. Mr. Green has got several branches in the greater Hamburg area. The restaurant at Bleichenhof is mainly frequented by office workers who like to spend their lunch break on the large terrace at the canal. The branch at Blankenese´s Strandhotel is very beautiful. Here you can dine at an elegant old villa by the river Elbe with lots of stucco, a fireplace and a garden. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Veggie heaven |
Thadenstraße 1 Hamburg, Hamburg 22767 Germany +49 (0)40 439 8422 |
Suryel provides an impressive demonstration of how versatile and tasty vegetarian cuisine can be. This is a great place to enjoy a bowl of soup, a salad or a plate of pasta in a friendly and inviting atmosphere. All meals are filling, and dedicated carnivores won't miss the meat thanks to the excellent tofu dishes. Favourites include the herb tofu in a red wine sauce with buttered vegetables and rosemary potatoes (EUR10) and spring salad and yoghurt dip with sweet potato (EUR7.50). There is a bowling alley in the basement which can be hired by the hour. Review © 2007, Wcities |
