The Schach (chess) café is located inside the former railway station at Rübenkamp. Built in 1913, the place was sold in the early 1980s and became a nice café bar after thorough renovation in 1984. There is pleasant dining, drinking and socialising here until early in the morning. The spacious café and pub seats 120 guests and offers inexpensive hot and cold meals. There are magazines and the daily press for you to read through in the slightly rustic ambience. Mixed regulars with a majority of students later at night also come here to play some chess or cardgames. In good weather the large station square becomes a beergarden.
