Known as the 'staircase district', Blankenese contains a total of 4,864 steps. The small, narrow lanes have a Mediterranean feel and boast a mixture of elegant turn-of-the-century villas, old fishermen's houses and modern concrete buildings. There are colourful flowers and ivy-covered walls everywhere during the summer. Hesse and Schinkel parks are located in the neighbourhood, and the Römischer Garten is also worth a visit.
