Atmospheric fish market |
Große Elbstraße 9 Hamburg, Hamburg 22767 Germany +49 (0)40 3 8012 x0 http://www.fischmarkt-hamburg.de/ |
A real institution in Hamburg, this traditional fish market has taken place every Sunday morning since 1703. Nowadays, market-goers can purchase much more than just fish, livestock, exotic plants and a whole range of bric-a-brac are sold by the cheery stallholders. The market is also a great place for a fishy breakfast: pale-faced, all-night partygoers and rosy-cheeked early risers meet here early in the morning to line their stomachs and catch a beautiful, maybe even sunny, view of the River Elbe. Seventies sounds and kitschy costumes |
Reeperbahn Hamburg, Hamburg 20359 Germany +49 (0)40 3802 3650 http://www.schlagermove.de/ |
Germans love their Schlager music-a kitschy, trashy German-language version of seventies pop. This is celebrated every summer in a colourful parade through the St. Pauli district accompanied by various excessive fringe activities. It is recommended that you start growing sideburns and dig your bell-bottomed flares out of the cupboard in good time! A colourful wig could also come in handy. Review © 2007, Wcities |
