For surfing or snorkeling |
2365 Kalakaua Avenue Honolulu, HI 96815 United States +1 808 922 3111 (Hotel) |
Head to the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel's private beach to show off your amateur surfing skills. And no harm if you stumble and fall, as only beginners are around for company. You can rent a surfboard from the Aloha Beach Service, who also provide a bodyguard, just in case you lose your balance while trying to impress! But if you are a complete novice, enroll yourself in the classes on offer. Go for snorkeling, if surfing has failed to excite you—equipment is rented out for that too. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This company offers more than one kind of thrill. While it's true that parasailing is the focus, Jet Skis are also available for people who like to keep a little bit closer to the ground (or in this case, the water). Scuba diving is also offered. If you've wanted to try parasailing though, this is a good bet; the company has been around since 1983. Call for pricing on parasailing or scuba adventures. Note: A credit card is required to hold, but cash is the only form of payment accepted. This allows the company to offer deep discounts much of the time. Reservations are required. Free door-to-door van transportation from Waikiki hotels is included. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Scuba diving in a hotel pool? But of course! This company entices potential new divers by offering an introductory class in a swimming pool at no charge. If you like it, try an ocean dive with an instructor. Aqua Zone's custom boat will take certified divers to two locations. The price includes transportation, all equipment and refreshments. Dive sites include sea caves, sunken ships, and even a World War II fighter plane! Diving enthusiasts should ask about brand new hotel packages. The company also books other aquatic activities including water skiing, jet skiing, para sailing, charter fishing, snorkeling, and even surfing. There is an additional location in the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Across the street from the Sunset Beach Elementary School is the Ehukai Beach Park. It's here that the Banzai Pipeline separates the men from the boys (or if you ask some, the smart from the stupid). Known for its notorious waves which can swell to triple overhead in winter, it's every surfer's dream and nightmare. Even if experienced in water sports, it's preferable to venture in during Spring and Summer, when the waters are calmer. Review © 2007, Wcities |

For the ultimate thrill, try this popular adventure sport. Sail above the seas on a small parachute that's being towed by a speedboat. People who have gone say there's nothing like it. This company is Hawaii's oldest parasail operator, and one of its most respected. It's been running for 25 years. You couldn't pick a better company in which to place your trust and your life. If going solo seems a bit scary, take a tandem ride. Adrenaline junkies are encouraged to ask about the "Wet and Wild Rides." Call directly or ask an activity broker for more information. Surf n Sea is a staple on the North shore landscape, built in 1921 and housing the premiere surf shop since 1965, SurfnSea has it all. Surf gear and apparel for most ocean activities, not to mention tours, lessons, sales and rentals, plus plenty of souvenirs. They specialize in Surfing, Scuba Diving, Bodyboarding & Snorkeling. The look, feel, and location of the building makes it easy to envision the past. Surf legends and current top professionals from around the world have set foot inside this historic shop. To this day it sits alone on the World Famous Haleiwa coastline and you couldn't ask for a better place to find what you need for a great day at the beach. In the winter, ask about their prize patrol program where they give out a free sticker and you can win prizes if seen sporting the sticker around town. -Rex Davidson Review © 2007, Wcities |
