Scenic downtown spot |
1599 Ala Wai Boulevard Honolulu, HI 96813 United States |
While it's almost become too popular with yacht owners, and as is a result beginning to suffer from over-congestion, this harbor is a favorite scenic spot. Views of the Ala Wai Harbor are a coveted feature for downtown restaurants and hotels. From the harbor one can see the Diamond Head or the endless blue Pacific. If you want a little more action, head over to Kaiser's Bowl and watch the surfers do their thing. The Waikiki Trolley makes regular stops here. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Skyrise on the outskirt of Waikiki |
1778 Ala Moana Blvd Honolulu, HI 96815 United States |
An impressive structure that sits smack-dab in between Waikiki and Ala Moana, this building is practically a district in itself. With a two-story shopping mall and several restaurants on-site, it offers plenty of guest services and activities. Amenities aren't too shabby either; units are furnished with washer/dryers and full kitchens. Ocean views are the standard. This is a long-term accommodation, available for one month, minimum. It doesn't really qualify as a money-saving option, but families or groups with plenty to spend on accommodations will be happy in the elegant, spacious units. Several rental and realty firms handle the different units. Some good ones to try are Hawaiian Properties (+1 808 955 3341), Waikiki Suites (http://www.waikikisuites.com) and Discovery Bay Realty (+1 808 946 3370). Prices start at $3,000 per month. Halekulani means House of Heaven and is a very appropriate description. High-rise towers and low-rise bungalows are perched in lush splendor above Waikiki Beach. The service is attentive and the surroundings are tropically grand. The estate was originally built in 1917. It was converted from a private beachfront estate to an exclusive visitors' paradise in the 1930s. If you visit on a Wednesday, receive an invitation to the Manager's Cocktail Reception. This party rivals the planned gatherings of the best cruise ships. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This has been one of Hawaii's best hotel complexes for more than 45 years. Two towers, Tapa and Rainbow, are set in a huge garden paradise of tropical plants and wildlife and the Ali'i Tower is where guests are given the old-fashioned royal treatment. World-class shops, including the famous jewelry store Na Hoku and restaurants complement one of Hilton's finest efforts. The complex has a magnificent two-tiered pool and a luxuriant spa. The beach in front is more spacious than any hotel-front strip in Waikiki. At the on-the-beach activities hut, visitors can plan a day sail, parasail or snorkeling adventure at no extra charge. While the main selling point of this hotel is its location (practically on the grounds of Honolulu International Airport), it has more things going for it than that. Accommodations are comfortable and well-equipped, and guest services are more than adequate. An on site restaurant serves three meals a day, and a shuttle transports guests from the hotel to Waikiki, Pearl Harbor ad other Honolulu hot spots. Overlooking the beautiful 108-acre Kapiolani Park, this high-rise has one of the best views of Diamond Head in Waikiki. It was built in 1959 and totally renovated in 1989. The so-called "Pink Palace of the Pacific" opened its doors in 1927 and has been a favorite for the international set ever since. Although there have been many renovations in its more than 70 years of operation, the hotel and grounds have remained graceful, relaxed and very Hawaiian.
