Popular local designer |

No one can accuse this designer of not having a sense of humor. There is a full line of goofy shirts featuring all the favorite teen pop stars, Big Dog-style. The drawings of the lovely Barkney Spears and Christina Waguilera are hilarious, yet eerily resemblant of the famous namesakes. The other side of this store features utilitarian fashions for the beach and outdoors. They're preppy yet sporty, perfect for all ages. Logo items such as key chains and coffee mugs are also for sale. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The best of the newest |

When Coral Creek opened, Golf Digest named it one of Americas best new courses. Located on the Ewa Plain, it showcases some of Hawaii's most breathtaking natural wonders. Take a moment to notice the coral rock formations which are exposed on land and in the many lakes. The entire course is divided into flower neighborhoods, each of which feature a different color of tropical blooms. With a par-72 rating, the course is difficult but not impossible. A large driving range, expansive putting green and several practice bunkers round out the sport facilities. For post-game relaxation, check out the restaurant or browse the Pro Shop. Hidden Haven for Treasure Hunters |

Jelly's, located behind a car dealership and within a warehouse district, is Hawaii's haven for comics, books, games, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, VHS, and more. Card games are played on tables in an upstairs open air loft. Bands occasionally perform on the second level to the customers below. Musical equipment is available for sale in one corner and the selection is amazing. The shelves are filled, from top to bottom, with new and used items. Hobbyists, bookworms, gamers, music lovers, comic collectors, and musicians can all be found roaming the aisles looking for just what they desire, and rarely are they disappointed thanks to a rock solid special order policy. If you're looking for something they don't already have, Jelly's will go to great lengths to try and make it happen, but be careful, first timers should come early as this store is very big and you might be there gazing in awe for hours! -Rex Davidson Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tiny womenswear shop |
131 Kaiulani Avenue Honolulu, HI 96815-3247 United States +1 808 921 2989 |
This shop is similar to something one might see in Greece or the Bahamas. It's small, warm and crowded with merchandise. The majority of the clothing is suited to women older than 45. It is heavy on shoulder pads and embroidery. Aloha prints and silk separates are also sold here. The merchandise is crammed tightly onto racks, and every once in a while, studious browsing will result in the surprising discovery of a slinky designer tank top hidden underneath an entire pile of floral-print blouses. Tourists flock to Ala Moana Center and the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center to spend big money on designer labels, but locals are more likely to head to this center. Located in North Honolulu, it contains more than 100 shops, restaurants and services. Retailers include Thinker Toys, Musicland and Gold Mart. California Pizza Kitchen is just one of a half-dozen restaurants. A multiplex theater is also onsite. The mall is split in two sections that are connected by a monorail. Credit card acceptance and hours vary by merchant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Japan's favorite cartoon cat has her own special store in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. This place is huge and even has its own cafe in the back. More Kitty-ware than you could dream of is for sale, including a new line of Kitty kitchen appliances. Items such as the tiny toaster ovens and pink plastic telephones look like toys but work like ordinary gadgets. Other merchandise ranges from stuffed animals to clothing to accessories. Parlor par excellence |
99-016, Kamehameha Highway Honolulu, HI 96701 United States +1 808 486 4868 http://www.tnttattoo.com/ |
You may spot a park bench outside TNT, but don't let that fool you. It's a tattoo and piercing parlor as good as they get. Tribal and Hawaiian to cover ups and customs, they do it all. Their expertise is as varied as their clientèle. Rappers from the Boo Ya tribe on one hand and Lance and Joey from N'Sync on the other have all had tattoos done at TNT. The piercing outfit came later (in 1993) but Dr.Dave's been tattooing since 1980. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Big stores, recognized names |
94-849 Lumiaina Street Honolulu, HI 96797 United States +1 808 671 6977 |
Located about a half-hour's drive from Waikiki, just across from the Waikele Premium Outlets, this center is home to a number of national chain retailers. While you won't find Hawaiian gifts or souvenirs here, you will find all the items necessary for day-to-day life. The center is more popular with locals than with tourists for that very reason. Eagle Hardware, Borders Books, CompUSA and K-Mart are a few of the stores found here. There are more than 25 stores and restaurants in total. Review © 2007, Wcities |
