This River Oaks gem was named "Best New Restaurant of 1995" by Esquire magazine. The industrial-chic decor is nice, but the best seating in the house is on the garden patio that opens onto a lovely lawn and herb garden. This cafe is loved by casual connoisseurs of good food. The chicken potpie, stuffed with fennel, carrots and celery in a rich cream sauce, is nothing like Mom used to make. Menu prices are moderate at $6 to $18, and a glass of house wine is available for $3.75. Reservations are recommended, and smoking is not allowed. Review © 2009, Wcities |
