This is a genuine hole in the wall that regulars have tried to keep secret, but to no avail. Gradually word has gotten out and the place is becoming more and more popular. Go early or you will be in line forever and might end up eating your lunch outside on the curb. A chalkboard menu offers a variety of sandwiches and salads. Definitely try the Thai chicken salad. Hobbit Cafe

Vegetarian crowd-pleasers
2243 Richmond
(at Portsmouth)
Houston, TX 77098
United States
+1 713 526 5460
Mystical art adorns the walls of this health-nut paradise that has been taking care of Houston hearts for many years. Those with artistic spirits are particularly attracted to the somewhat Bohemian atmosphere. Outside dining on a shady deck is extremely popular in fair weather. A few unhealthy menu options are available—think hefty hamburger—but vegetarian choices like the spinach and mushroom enchiladas are the true crowd-pleasers. Even the desserts manage to be tempting without overwhelming the body with fat and calories.

Affluent businessmen and women from the nearby "energy corridor" fill the restaurant to capacity during lunch, but the crowd is usually a little more diverse in the evenings. Both Greek and Middle Eastern accents make their presence felt on the interesting menu. Try a delicious gyro or one of the many chicken or fish heart-healthy selections.
