Favorite for fine dining |
5022 Lawai Road Kauai, HI 96756 United States +1 808 742 1424 http://www.the-beach-house.com/ |
Not to be confused with Zelo's Beach House, this is a perennial favorite for fine dining. It has had a rather turbulent history that includes more than one full-scale natural disaster. Nevertheless, in spite of hurricanes, changes of ownership, and the unstable dining climate in Hawai'i, this restaurant perseveres. Its Pacific Rim-influenced menu features a nice blend of seafood, veggie and meat dishes. Diners and even the jaded local contingency just cannot get enough of the vividly colorful sunsets. According to pizza lovers, this comfortable, family-style restaurant offers some of the best eats on Kaua'i. Established more than 20 years ago, the family-owned Kalaheo eatery has a warm, friendly atmosphere and consistently good food that keeps its loyal clientèle coming back for more. A rustic dining experience |
2-2431 Kaumualii Highway Kauai, HI 96741 United States +1 808 332 9755 |
The sugar industry was once the dominating force of the Hawaiian Islands. People from a number of foreign countries came to work on the plantations, and were housed in wooden structures known as "camp houses." This is one of a few still standing. Its history is best explained through the photographs that adorn the walls. The menu consists of solid, down-home favorites served in sizable portions. Breakfasts are about as hearty as they come. Try the corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, home fries and eggs. Lunch and dinner entrees are based around meat dishes: barbecued chicken, ribs and burgers. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Boasting "Kauai's largest seafood selection," this South Side eatery offers 10 fish specialties nightly. Everything on the menu is locally caught and painstakingly prepared. Many of Hawaii's fish have names mainlanders have not heard of, so do not be shy about asking questions; friendly, well-informed staff members are more than happy to answer them. Nightly specialties are always worth checking out. Bouillabaisse, paella and cioppino are constants on the menu. The dining room is relaxed with an upbeat atmosphere. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Snacks, shakes, munchies |
2-2436 Kaumualii Highway # A2 Kauai, HI 96741 United States http://www.kalaheo.com/ |
This is a popular stop-off on the way to touristy Waimea Canyon and other top destinations. The friendly, small-town cafe opens at dawn and serves hearty, tasty breakfasts and lunches. Some menu items include bagels, breakfast burritos, omelets, sandwiches, salads, espresso drinks and ice cream shakes. This is a laid-back place to grab a bite. It is also a retailer, a hangout spot and, somewhat surprisingly, a meeting place for local techies. The Internet Users Group of Kalaheo meets here monthly. Review © 2007, Wcities |

For anyone trying to maintain a relatively healthy eating regimen while on vacation, the place is an absolute dream. The cafe's theme is balance; that is how the name Kupono translates. As the name implies, the goal is to provide the perfect combination of nutrition and flavor - and in this, the restaurant succeeds admirably. Salads here are organic, breads are whole-grain, and fruit smoothies are made from only the freshest ingredients. The cafe is conveniently located inside the Hyatt's Anara Spa.
