Hearty, local-style meals |
2982 Kress Street Kauai, HI 96766 United States +1 808 245 2921 |
Bored with breakfast? Try something different: teriyaki fish, miso soup, egg and rice. It sounds bizarre if you have never tried it, but it can be surprisingly satisfying in the morning. At noon, standard plate lunches are a favorite, but a selection of home-cooked American favorites is also available. Hearty dinner entrees include meat loaf, roast beef and stuffed mahi mahi. This simple and informal restaurant has been around for more than 60 years. During that time, it has managed to accumulate a devoted clientèle. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Saimin For all |
2956 Kress Street Kauai, HI 96766 United States +1 808 245 3271 |
Hamura's is famous for serving lip-smacking saimin for a long time now. The U-shaped counters attract tourists to the specialty and no holiday in Kauai is complete without sampling something at Hamura. Take your pick from skewers of chicken or beef, wholesome noodles with eggs, vegetables, or seafood, and enjoy whilst sitting on wooden stools. Hamura's was recently awarded the James Beard Award for authentic, ethnic food; so don't think twice. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Surrounded by the lovely Moir Gardens at the Kiahuna Plantation Resort, the restaurant is like an idyllic getaway with outdoor lanai seating and views of lush gardens. It serves authentic Hawaiian cuisine, and the vegetables are grown organically and sourced from local farmers. All the food is cooked on traditional Kiawe - a mesquite wood which adds flavour to the food. Try the local fare especially the catch of the day, like Seafood Lau Lau ($22.95), Steamer Basket with Hawaiian snapper ($21.95) or the Hawaiian Hot pot, sugar cane skewered shrimp and scallops ($22.95). Dessert start from $6-$7. Review © 2007, Wcities |
