Favorite way to sightsee |
Lihue Airport, across from Heliport (Mailing: 3651 Ahukini Road) Kauai, HI 96766 United States +1 808 246 4666 http://www.airkauai.com |
Among the spectacular sights you'll see on this tour are Manaowaipuna Falls (the falls seen in Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park), Mount Wai'ale'ale (if you are lucky, you will get to 'copter inside the crater) and, of course, the epic Na Pali cliffs. The combined narrative and background music adds to the stunning visual effects. Craft are equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows for optimal viewing. Owner and pilot Chuck DiPiazza has been in the business on Kauai for more than 10 years. Call for prices and more information. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Kukuiula Harbor (South Shore) Kauai, HI 96756 United States +1 808 335 5553 / +1 808 511 1311 http://www.BlueDolphinCharters... |
Commended by the U.S. Coast Guard for its high standards, this charter company provides a variety of sailing tours off the coast of Kauai. Sunset cruises, whale watches, full-day cruises along the Na Pali coast and numerous snorkel excursions are offered. The cruises range from two to six hours and take place aboard motor-powered sailboats. The most popular excursion is a seven-hour trip to the Forbidden Isle of Ni'ihau. The two main vessels are approved for 99 passengers, although only 49 passengers are aboard at one time. Check website for details. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Visit the Forbidden Isle |
Port Allen (Mailing: P.O. Box 50940) Kauai, HI 96705 United States +1 808 335 0815 http://www.holoholocharters.com/ |
There are very few ways to visit the island of Ni'ihau, otherwise known as the Forbidden Island. This is one of a select few companies that can bring non-natives onto the shores of the Hawaiians only island. It also offers luxury snorkel tours, whale watches, sunset cruises and private charters. While these excursions cannot quite offer the mystique of the Ni'ihau adventure, tourists might still be won over by the protected cabins and the free-flowing beer and wine. Motor and sail cruises are offered. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Capture the perfect picture |

Distinguished by their rainbow-striped hulls, these helicopters are special for another reason: A section of the unique "Scenic View" windows open, allowing passengers to avoid the glare factor that ruins many-a-picture. The helicopters tour the Na Pali coast, Waimea Canyon and other stunning landmarks. Navigated and narrated by experts, the tours have earned rave reviews from such expert guides as Conde Nast. There are many ways to see the sea off the shore of Kauai, and this company aims to cover all of the options. Raft tours, whale watches, catamaran cruises and first-class day tours are offered. Depending on the excursion, guests can snorkel just off the shore, get up close to larger marine life, enjoy buffet dining aboard the Lucky Lady, or visit an ancient Hawaiian village. Catamaran cruises are appropriate for everyone; raft expeditions are suited for hardier folks. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Favorite snorkeling beach |
Foot of the Na Pali Coast Trail (end of the road, North Shore) Kauai, HI 96722 United States |
Although wintertime waves can be prohibitively big, summer and spring snorkeling on this beach is considered the best that Kaua'i has to offer. The beach is a vision: turquoise water and golden sand against a backdrop of towering black cliffs. When the water is calm (as it often is in the summer months), it is possible to see hundreds of tropical fish. The best and safest snorkeling is by the reef. Always check with locals and lifeguards before entering the water—and do not touch the coral reef. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Majesty of nature |
Northwest shore (end of Highway 56) Kauai, HI 96714 United States +1 808 274 3444 |
The sea cliffs of Kauai's west side tower above the wild and beautiful ocean, sometimes reaching as high as 4,000 feet above sea level. They give Na Pali its name, which is Hawaiian for "The Cliffs." In addition to being considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, this 17-mile stretch also offers some of the world's best hiking. Less hardy sightseers will want to tour the area by helicopter or boat. There are several companies that offer Na Pali adventures. Review © 2007, Wcities |
