The jewel of Tahoe |
Highway 89 Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 United States +1 530 525 7277 |
Majestic Emerald Bay is just a small part of this beautiful and pristine State Park covering 1,830 acres of the Sierra Nevada mountains. You will find six miles of both rocky and sandy beaches on the magnificent shoreline of Lake Tahoe. Also available to visitors are picnic areas, camping and miles of hiking trails. Enjoy nature and see the beautiful variety of trees and plants that are indigenous to the Lake Tahoe area. Along with the Ponderosa and Jeffrey pines, red and white fir, cedar, junipers and cottonwood, the park is brimming with gnarled and stunted sugar pines that grow in thin granite soil. Take a stroll along the Balancing Rock nature trail and see a 130-ton rock that balances precariously on a slender stone base. This has been a favorite attraction since the late 1800s. It's a short and easy half-mile, self-guided walk that shouldn't be missed. Plan on spending the entire day, because once you get here, you won't want to leave. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Highway 89 at Fallen Leaf Road Lake Tahoe, CA 95442 United States |
Located just a few miles from Camp Richardson, this casual and relaxing two-mile round-trip hike leads to the historic Soda Water Spring site that was first discovered in 1863. The famous architect Bernard Maybeck, who also designed the San Francisco Palace of Fine Art, built this resort, which is one of the earliest in the Tahoe Basin, in 1864. As you meander through the Desolation Valley Wilderness, you will happen upon cascading waterfalls, snow-fed creeks, wildflowers and beautiful Glen Alpine Canyon. This is a great place for the family to come and spend the day, so bring enough food and drink with you. Be sure to wear sturdy and comfortable shoes. The hike is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |

You must be accurate |
12850 Northwoods Boulevard Lake Tahoe, CA 96161 United States +1 530 587 9440 http://www.tahoedonner.com/ |
You must be accurate on this course because the fairways are narrow and there are steep slopes that drop to the greens. The front of the course was designed by Roy Williams, and the back nine by Bill Bell Jr. This course is very hilly and requires a keen eye to make it to the green. Watch out for pine trees on this 6,899-yards, par-71 course. Practice facilities include two putting greens, a driving range and sand traps. Review © 2007, Wcities |
