The name of this casino pays homage to the crystal clear lake that has made this region so special. Abandoning the typical casino vibe, MontBleu has created a fresh, more serene feel to its gambling presence. The 40,000-square-foot gaming area invites players with many of the usual suspects: tables and slots. Flat screen TVs decorate The Zone sports book, for all the gamer's fancies. Nightlife options within the casino are copious, including the high-energy nightclub Blu, Opal Eurasion Cuisine & Ultra Lounge, and numerous live performances; this is a place you can take a group and satisfy everyone's mood. The accommodations are simply luxurious with amenities by Aveda and Bleu Cloud Beds. Onsen Spa, an Aveda Lifestyle Salon & Spa, is a perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes. The numerous dining options include Ciera Steak & Chophouse, del Soul, and a 24-hour diner. You may never have to leave the building, if it weren't for the infinite beauty outside. Spectacular views of the lake |
Highway 50 Lake Tahoe, NV 89413 United States |
This wonderful day-use facility is located just south of the Cave Rock tunnel. The name originated from a series of small caves that had been cut away on the west side of the mountain when the lake elevation was 140 feet higher than it is today. This took place during the last Ice Age. The boat ramp makes the lake accessible for watercraft of all sizes. You will find all the comforts necessary to make it an enjoyable outing including restrooms, picnic tables complete with fire pits and barbecues, a small beach and spectacular views. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept leashed. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Majestic Emerald Bay is just a small part of this beautiful and pristine State Park covering 1,830 acres of the Sierra Nevada mountains. You will find six miles of both rocky and sandy beaches on the magnificent shoreline of Lake Tahoe. Also available to visitors are picnic areas, camping and miles of hiking trails. Enjoy nature and see the beautiful variety of trees and plants that are indigenous to the Lake Tahoe area. Along with the Ponderosa and Jeffrey pines, red and white fir, cedar, junipers and cottonwood, the park is brimming with gnarled and stunted sugar pines that grow in thin granite soil. Take a stroll along the Balancing Rock nature trail and see a 130-ton rock that balances precariously on a slender stone base. This has been a favorite attraction since the late 1800s. It's a short and easy half-mile, self-guided walk that shouldn't be missed. Plan on spending the entire day, because once you get here, you won't want to leave. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Crystal clear waters |
455 North Lake Boulevard (35 miles west of Reno) Lake Tahoe, CA 96145 United States |
Lake Tahoe, which holds enough water to cover the state of California to a depth of 14 inches, was once named 'big water' by the Washoe Indian Tribe. This beautiful, pristine lake, nestled in the Sierra Nevada, is located on the Nevada and California border. The lake is 22 miles long, 12 miles wide and has 72 miles of shoreline. Sixty-three streams flow into the lake; but only one river, the Truckee, flows out of it. One-third of the lake lies in Nevada, and there are miles of biking, hiking and equestrian trails for your outdoor pleasure. Enjoy a multitude of beaches where you can bask in the sun or swim. Whether you come here for recreation or solitude, this breathtakingly beautiful lake will meet all your expectations. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Amazingly well-preserved watercraft artifacts of Tahoe's maritime history are found here. The museum is used for public education and is a non-profitable organization. Boats, engines, motors, memorabilia...it's a sailor's paradise! Photographs dating back to the late 19th century are also on display. One can view almost antique hydroplanes along with modern day aquaplanes and water-skis, making this a veritable trip through history. Anglers will be happy to spot various types of fishing gear, boats and poles among the loftier watercrafts. Keen on keeping alive the local history, the museum publishes newsletters, produces videos, maintains audio/video archives and conducts regular sales. A membership contributes to the conservation of the local heritage. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Come and hear tales about the legendary Tessie who allegedly trolls the waters of Lake Tahoe. She might be the cousin of the Loch Ness monster known as Nessie. The whole family can see displays that prove she actually exists--well almost. You will also find a fascinating and unique gift shop featuring Tessie T-shirts, souvenirs and books. This is great fun for the entire family and should definitely be included in your sightseeing day. Admission to the museum is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Scandinavia on the lake |

Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight began building her estate in 1928 with as many as 200 workers employed to carve intricate designs by hand; the hinges were hand-forged as well. Two of the most unusual aspects of the castle are the sod roof and the fact that much of the house was built without benefit of nails or other fasteners. The castle contains many fine examples of Scandinavian furnishings and antiques. This site is accessed from Emerald Bay State Park, also known as the D.L. Bliss State Park. Review © 2007, Wcities |
