Bonnie Springs Ranch Old Nevada

The wild west
1 Gunfighter Lane
Blue Diamond, Clark County

Give your family a taste of the West! A short drive from the city, this ranch is a miniature replica of the old days, when much of the country was a cowboy's domain. Built in 1843, as a wagon stop, this pretty, almost desert-like foothill town, with its wooden boards, tumbleweeds, stagecoaches and saloons will transport most locals back into history. A weekend here will be filled with activities, such as horseback riding, miniature train rides, wild animal spotting, a "posse" show, simulated street fights and melodramatic scenes complete with onlookers and stuntmen, all for USD10. Loads of curios and souvenirs source the memorabilia section, while those who'd like to stay just a little bit longer can avail of the motel facilities – themed rooms, with romantic décor and guided tours beckon guests at rates ranging from USD60 to USD100 per night.

Try a horseback-riding excursion in the cool green mountains just 35 miles from downtown Las Vegas. A three-hour tour will take you deep into the heart of the pine forest, where birds and wildlife abound. It is often possible to see Nevada's wild horses in this area as well. On summer evenings, an old-fashioned family-style hay ride is another option, and in winter, try the romantic sleigh rides through the fresh snow. Call for reservations and tour costs.

Riding through the serene desert landscape you can feel the pioneering spirit of those who traveled along the Old Spanish Trail. Look closely wild burros and horse herds may be just around the next bend. Good horses, fresh air and scenic trails rich in history and geological wonders will leave riders with hearty appetites. Heading back to the ranch the sights and aromas of a crackling campfire and a delicious Cowboy Supper awaits you.
