The wild west |
1 Gunfighter Lane Blue Diamond, Clark County Las Vegas, NV 89004 United States +1 702 875 4191 http://www.bonniesprings.com/ |
Give your family a taste of the West! A short drive from the city, this ranch is a miniature replica of the old days, when much of the country was a cowboy's domain. Built in 1843, as a wagon stop, this pretty, almost desert-like foothill town, with its wooden boards, tumbleweeds, stagecoaches and saloons will transport most locals back into history. A weekend here will be filled with activities, such as horseback riding, miniature train rides, wild animal spotting, a "posse" show, simulated street fights and melodramatic scenes complete with onlookers and stuntmen, all for USD10. Loads of curios and souvenirs source the memorabilia section, while those who'd like to stay just a little bit longer can avail of the motel facilities – themed rooms, with romantic décor and guided tours beckon guests at rates ranging from USD60 to USD100 per night. Cirque du Soleil, the creators of original powerhouse shows including Mystere, Zumanity, O and Varekai have unleashed their newest performance, KA. This visual spectacular combines martial arts, acrobatics, shadow puppetry, and indoor fireworks to tell the saga of Imperial Twins who embark on an adventurous journey. KA, or, "fire that can unite or separate, destroy or illuminate." The venue is the KA Theatre at MGM Grand, and is in the former showroom that housed EFX. The design of the theater ensures that everyone has the best seat in the house. State-of-the-art acoustics provide dreamlike surround sound, with special speakers embedded in each of the ultra cozy and comfy seats. The audience sits facing an apparently bottomless void filled with smoke. Above, around and inside the void the artists make their entrances, perform and exit without touching a traditional stage. Instead, they fly through the air or perform on one of two moving platforms. While the storyline is a little convoluted, the visual and audio aspects make this a fun show for all ages. Cirque du Soleil is one of the most recognizable entertainment brands in the world. Any production is guaranteed to deliver thrills and chills like nothing else you will ever see. With KA, Cirque du Soleil not only extends its brand, but enriches the whole Cirque experience. At a brisk 90 minutes, this show is just the ticket for your visit to Las Vegas and it's close to everything on the Strip in the MGM Grand. KA will give you a heart-stopping jolt without having to drop your bankroll! In 2004 alone nearly seven million people attended a Cirque du Soleil performance. That many satisfied customers can't be wrong! Review © 2009, Wcities |

One of the oldest parks in Las Vegas, the place does show its age a bit with its metal playground equipment, but the kids love it. A popular feature is the fishing pond, which, although sometimes algae-covered, is accessible year-round and stocked with rainbow trout in winter and catfish in summer. The pond limit is three fish per day. This park is also home to the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society, a great learning experience for all ages. There are barbeque facilities and bathrooms-- the park is more of a place for relaxation than active exercise, but adventurous types can go for a swim. Admission to the park is free. Combining 70-milimeter film, five-channel Dolby stereo sound and specially designed seats that move in sync with the on-screen action, this is almost as good as the real thing (not to mention, much safer). These realistic rides offer 'trips' such as 'Runaway Train', 'Space Race' and 'Devil's Mine Ride'. This fun place is located inside the Excalibur Hotel Casino. Give the kids a treat; the modest cost is USD5 per ride. Review © 2009, Wcities |

The annual Monster Jam World Finals at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas is the apex of monster truck events in the United States. While other motor sports have their 'off-season', a hundred odd monster truck teams tough it out to come up tops with the judges. The competitors are selected on the basis of points and honors. Once the trucks get on the track, the high octane beasts reach speeds of up to sixty-five miles per hour, even on freestyle obstacle courses. Winning The Monster Jam World Finals is like acquiring the holy grail. Spectators be warned, don't try this at home. Review © 2009, Wcities |
