Signs placed throughout the area contain factual information about Chinese art and history, so it's a good place to learn a few things in passing. The food is the best reason to visit this attraction, though. You may sample Filipino, Korean, Japanese or Vietnamese specialties in addition to the traditional Chinese fare. Royalty, business tycoons and movie stars all come here to splurge on jewelry and timepieces. The late Harry Winston, a native New Yorker, is still known as "The King of Diamonds", and the business empire he founded has an international reputation. High profile celebrities are known to "borrow" designs when they attend the Oscars each year, and even the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Louvre have displayed Winston's exclusively crafted works. The stores, or "salons" as they are called, maintain a high profile, and this one in Las Vegas is no exception. You can expect impeccable service, and to be set back by several thousand dollars if you decide to secure one of the exquisite pieces on offer.

Hilo Hattie is THE store for all of Hawaii's gifts under one roof; well, make that many roofs, since they have a lot of different locations. But this store in particular is different from the rest purely for its setting. Set up in the miracle mile, the XXL aloha shirts in the display window are enough to tempt people to step in. Walk in and pick up clothes and jewelry for the family including food, indigenous to the island.

Talk about a tradition of luxury! This retailer gave us the first cultured pearl in 1893, and more than 100 years later, its elegant designs are sought after the world over. Offerings include Akoya cultured pearls and South Sea pearls, both as jewelry and as embellishments for accessories. In addition to jewelry, the shop is overflowing with gift ideas from scarves, handbags and frames to magnifying glasses and jewelry pouches. Affluent shoppers from California, Calgara and Calcutta find the way to this shop on a regular basis. It is located at the Grand Canal Shoppes in the swanky-kitschy Venetian Hotel.

When you are in Las Vegas, for any reason, for business or pleasure, or even if you live there, here's a change of pace from the lunatic asylums of the casinos. Located in the downtown Arts District, this 12,000 sq.ft. two-story building is a collector's adventure. A virtual Aladdin's Cave of antiques, the name explains it all. Here you will find an array of items, including art pieces, vintage dolls, jewelry and clothing, as well as science fiction collectibles. Take a detour from the overwhelming amounts of nicknacks and enjoy the Tea Room/Art Gallery, filled with local artist's work, as well as classic pieces. Look out for regular events such as Flea Market Fridays held during the first Friday of every month. If you're feeling lucky, have your tarot cards read by a modern Oracle.
