Give your family a taste of the West! A short drive from the city, this ranch is a miniature replica of the old days, when much of the country was a cowboy's domain. Built in 1843, as a wagon stop, this pretty, almost desert-like foothill town, with its wooden boards, tumbleweeds, stagecoaches and saloons will transport most locals back into history. A weekend here will be filled with activities, such as horseback riding, miniature train rides, wild animal spotting, a "posse" show, simulated street fights and melodramatic scenes complete with onlookers and stuntmen, all for USD10. Loads of curios and souvenirs source the memorabilia section, while those who'd like to stay just a little bit longer can avail of the motel facilities – themed rooms, with romantic décor and guided tours beckon guests at rates ranging from USD60 to USD100 per night.

Good entertainment beyond the bright lights of casinos is not that hard to find in Sin City after all. The Clark County Government Center, located in the metropolitan area of Las Vegas, sports a spacious amphitheater that sits pretty amid rolling greens and historic-looking, sandstone structures. Host to a gamut of concerts, shows and performances from rock to classical music and jazz to symphonies, the arena is a lovely spot to catch some cultural action. The complex is a favorite among touring bands, who look to gather a fan following. The Nevada Chamber Symphony's 'Jazz in the Park' concert series is an annual fixture here, between May and October. Stroll out into the lawns for a break or a family picnic, after a vibrant session within the 2500-seat arena. Its amenities are topped off with an option of bringing in your own drinks, and the tickets are priced as low as five bucks apiece.

Pink Jeeps Tours takes you back in time, where the colorful history of the Old West comes to life in Eldorado Canyon, home to the famed Techatticup mine. On the short journey to this rustic site, you'll enjoy spectacular scenery: fields of teddy bear cholla, rare geologic formations, and an excellent photo opportunity down near the banks of Lake Mojave, the blue jewel of this isolated desert terrain. On your professionally guided tour of the mine you will hear stories of the back-breaking work done by prospectors over a century ago as they chased gold veins deep into this rugged mountainside, as well as listen to tales of yesteryear's gunfights and lawlessness of this once-frontier territory. The tour lasts 4 hours.

Once known as Tule Springs Ranch, this park not only has picnic areas and scenic paths but also provides four stocked ponds where fishing is permitted with a Nevada Fishing License. The park encompasses 2,040 acres and houses volleyball and horseshoe facilities. The first use of this land was as a watering hole for both Native Americans and prospectors. In the 1930-40s, the Ranch was a popular place for movie stars and others who wanted to take advantage of Nevada's liberal divorce laws and six-month residency requirement.

As you might expect, the world's largest hotel-casino, the MGM Grand, offers the most interesting and unique wedding packages you can imagine. For instance, you can choose to boogie down the aisle at Studio 54, surrounded by mirrored disco balls, strobe lights and dancers. If you opt for more traditional but equally grand ceremonies, choose a classic romantic movie package, such as Casablanca, An Affair to Remember or From Here to Eternity, including a suite for one or two nights. Prices vary by package.

If you can't make it to Egypt, but you are interested in Middle Eastern history, this is the place to go. Located deep inside the Luxor pyramid, the museum is a real treat. Exact reproductions of the young king's tomb and riches will be discovered on this self-directed audio tour. All room measurements and placement of the artifacts are based on the notes of Howard Carter who discovered the original tomb in 1922. It is so realistic, you might just worry about being cursed. Audio tour translations available in English, Japanese, French and Spanish.

This is a wonderful spot at the MGM Grand to spend an hour or two gazing at the lions and cubs in their multi-level, state-of-the-art showcase and natural habitat. Admission is free, but you will have a 'photo opportunity' for pictures of you with the lions. There's also a gift shop, with lots of fun toys, stuffed animals and clothing. A portion of the proceeds goes to organizations dedicated to the preservation of lions.

Established in 1942, this is the oldest wedding chapel in Las Vegas. It is perhaps the most charming, with an authentic and romantically rustic atmosphere. It has also been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The list of famous celebrities who have been married here is extensive. It began with Betty Grable and Harry James, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, and more recently Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere. Even Elvis and Ann Margaret tied the knot on the silver screen in the final scene from Viva Las Vegas.

Choose to be married in the same spot where Joan Collins, Michael Jordan, Judy Garland, Demi Moore and Frank Sinatra said "I do." This chapel also offers a wedding in a hot air balloon for the more adventurous couples. The famous "drive-up" wedding is available for those who are in a hurry. Services available include florist, music, video, theme weddings, photographers and formal attire rental. Ask about the free limousine amenity. A simple but lovely service starts at USD55. Prices can go well into the hundreds depending on the services you choose.

If you want to walk like an Egyptian, you've come to the right place. Opened in 1993, this hotel is a huge pyramid, fronted by a giant sphinx. The pyramid reaches 350 feet into the air, the equivalent of 36 stories. It is the world's largest atrium at 29-million cubic feet, and the light at the top is the brightest beam in the world.

Maybe it's the "pyramid power" that draws people to the Oasis Spa, or maybe it's just the tired guests who have spent the previous evening sampling the Las Vegas nightlife. The 12,000 square foot facility offers tanning beds, personal trainers, salt scrubs, massages, herbal body wraps and a 12-jet hydrotherapy tub. The steam bath is popular here, as well, due to the low humidity in the Las Vegas area. A day pass is very reasonably priced at USD20, or is free if services worth over USD35 are ordered. The spa is located at the Luxor Hotel Casino.

Located on the 52nd floor of the Fantasy Tower in the swanky Palms Hotel, the Playboy Club is a pleasure all around. You'll encounter no sour-faced dealers here. Instead, beautiful women wearing tight, skimpy outfits and the signature bunny ears will ease the pain of losing money at craps, cards or slots. When you get hungry, trip downstairs to Nove, a fine Italian restaurant. Later, if you last until the evening, swallow your losses and head up a floor to Moon, a nightclub with a retractable roof that allows its namesake to light your revelry. When it's all worn you out, go back to your room and collapse, until it's time to do it all again.

This hotel is located at "the beginning" of the Fremont Street Experience, on the site of the old Union Railroad Depot. Known as Union Plaza when first built in 1971, it was one of the first skyscrapers in downtown Las Vegas. It has been the scene of many a famous Hollywood car chase. The Center Stage Restaurant, on top of the porte cochere and overlooking Fremont Street, is another landmark and excellent eatery with an amazing view.

Las Vegas, NV 89124

+1 702 363 1921 (Information)
http://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/
RRCNCA, located just a few miles west of Las Vegas, is named for the deep red 3,000-foot-high sandstone cliffs that are perched above the dusty wastelands of this part of the Mojave Desert. The view from any part of the park is breathtaking: mostly nature fills the view, but from some points you can make out the entire Las Vegas Strip in the distance! If the temperature is extremely hot, climbing/hiking/bicycling throughout the park is not recommended; instead, opt to drive around the park (expect to pay a small fee for motorized vehicles) along a 13-mile paved loop. A visitor's center provides information on area history, geology, flora and fauna (visitors may encounter burros, big horn sheep or desert tortoises). You can also pick up a map of the park with detailed hiking routes (beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels). Rangers offer guided tours at no charge -- see website for schedules.

This hotel was appropriately christened the 'Tiffany of the Strip' when it was built in 1957 on the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevards. At that time it was truly an island, surrounded by a vast expanse of desert. Now that same location is considered one of the hottest in Las Vegas. Newly remodeled rooms in the Paradise Tower feature king beds or two queens, all with spectacular views. Jacuzzi suites are also available. The resort has a five-acre water park, with lagoons, spas and waterfalls. It even has the city's only 'swim-up' blackjack table. There is also a Wildlife Walk with tropical birds and other animals in their natural settings.

Spectacular red sandstone makes this a scenic desert wonder. This State Park has been a Nevada landmark since the 1930s, and is home to many desert animals. On the cave walls you will see Indian petroglyphs, still remarkably preserved after hundreds of years of erosion from dust and wind. The drive is just over 50-miles northwest of Las Vegas, and at sunset produces a memorable photographic opportunity. Check with the visitor center for details of the park, as well as souvenirs.
