"O" (Bellagio)

Las Vegas is rapidly becoming an occupied colony of Cirque du Soleil. With blow-out productions like KA at MGM Grand, Zumanity at New York New York, and Mystere at Treasure Island, Las Vegas visitors can catch breathtaking Cirque action at points up and down the Strip. O at Bellagio is arguably the most elegant of the Cirque productions. Theatrics take place in an aquatic setting above, on, and below a serene pond custom designed to meet the unique demands of the artists. Audiences truly enjoy the direct interaction with the fun cast, in typical Cirque behavior, where the actors make everyone part of the show. Every seat in the 1800 seat O showroom is a good one. But if you sit too close to the stage you may need an umbrella! Synchronized swimmers, aerialists, divers and clowns keep this 100+ minute show very exhilarating. The expert divers are reminiscent of human fireworks, and there is one unbelievable scene where there is a "human" fire! The sights, sounds and smell of O make this a must-see attraction.

Cirque du Soleil, the creators of original powerhouse shows including Mystere, Zumanity, O and Varekai have unleashed their newest performance, KA. This visual spectacular combines martial arts, acrobatics, shadow puppetry, and indoor fireworks to tell the saga of Imperial Twins who embark on an adventurous journey. KA, or, "fire that can unite or separate, destroy or illuminate." The venue is the KA Theatre at MGM Grand, and is in the former showroom that housed EFX. The design of the theater ensures that everyone has the best seat in the house. State-of-the-art acoustics provide dreamlike surround sound, with special speakers embedded in each of the ultra cozy and comfy seats. The audience sits facing an apparently bottomless void filled with smoke. Above, around and inside the void the artists make their entrances, perform and exit without touching a traditional stage. Instead, they fly through the air or perform on one of two moving platforms. While the storyline is a little convoluted, the visual and audio aspects make this a fun show for all ages. Cirque du Soleil is one of the most recognizable entertainment brands in the world. Any production is guaranteed to deliver thrills and chills like nothing else you will ever see. With KA, Cirque du Soleil not only extends its brand, but enriches the whole Cirque experience. At a brisk 90 minutes, this show is just the ticket for your visit to Las Vegas and it's close to everything on the Strip in the MGM Grand. KA will give you a heart-stopping jolt without having to drop your bankroll! In 2004 alone nearly seven million people attended a Cirque du Soleil performance. That many satisfied customers can't be wrong!

The Cirque du Soleil brings back fond memories of Beatlemania as they recreate the musical magic of the legendary band on a regular basis at the hotel's charming in-house theatre. A show with a difference, the acts explore the lyrics of the group's hits, with the help of 60 talented, international artistes within a beautiful red and gold setting, with a semi-circular stage and an awesome sound system. Performances at this venue take place throughout the year, with previews and shows that delight the audience. Interesting to note is the name—LOVE, after the theme of the main show itself!

Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular

3355 South Las Vegas Boulevard
Venetian Resort Hotel Casino
Las Vegas, NV 89109
United States
1-702-414-9000.
http://www.phantomlasvegas.com/
Andrew Lloyd Webber seems to have the Midas touch, which certainly continues with the Las Vegas production of his monumental musical Phantom of the Opera, one of the longest running shows in the history of Broadway, that has finally migrated out to 'The Strip' as the resident production at the Venetian Resort & Casino. Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius who haunts the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera House. From the time you step foot in the magnificent theater, the show transports you back into the late nineteenth century. The show begins with the Phantom tutoring a beautiful understudy by putting her under his spell as he wages a reign of terror over the new owners, and anyone else that does not obey his orders. This version of the long running Broadway play has unique operaesque vocals backed by a powerful 19-piece orchestra. The costuming and sets are every bit as extravagant and lavish as one would expect from a Las Vegas show. And to the complete delight of the audience, no corners are cut and no dime is spared. The beautiful $40 million Phantom of the Opera showroom - complete with breathtaking 'floating chandelier' - seats 1800 guests, every one with a good view of this 95-minute extravaganza. The show, abbreviated for the restless Las Vegas traveler, is directed by original director Hal Prince, and still maintains the complete storyline. Every song also remains intact. This retelling of the Beauty and the Beast myth has proved irresistible to audiences. Phantom of the Opera is the most successful theatrical endeavor of all time and has grossed more than $3 billion worldwide since its London premiere in 1986. Suitable for all ages and delightful for everyone! This is a must see while in Las Vegas! Credits: Executive Producers Scott Zeiger, David Ian, Carl Pasbjerg; Lyrics Charles Hart, Choreographer Gillian Lynne, Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber; Director Harold Prince; Producer Cameron Mackintosh; Lighting Andrew Bridge; Sound Mick Potter.
