A major event since 1965, this marathon just gets bigger and better every year. The participants must adhere to strict rules, including drug testing and 'ChampionChip' timing: 'no chip, no time.' Facilities like clocks per mile of the route, drink stops, and medical support are testimony to the efficiency of the organizers. But in recent times the course of the marathon has changed. A lot of glamor has been attached to the event plus a million dollars for any participant who can break the world record. Review © 2009, Wcities |

When Benny Binion hosted the first tournament in 1949, he probably never dreamed of the successful venture it would become. The marathon lasted five months, and Johnny Moss won over 'Nick the Greek' Dondolos. He walked away with a cool USD2 million! Taking place every June, the tournament attracts more than 4,000 players. Winnings for the extravaganza are in the neighborhood of USD11 million. It all happens at Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino. If you wish to play, ante up USD10,000 and see how long you can last. Spectators are encouraged to watch the action free of charge. Review © 2009, Wcities |
