Large and stylish, the Atrium boasts a cocktail bar, restaurant, dance floor and club. It's a big hit with Leeds' trendy students and young professionals thanks to the great atmosphere and midweek drink specials. The club is always busy at weekends when The Cooker and Filling the Gap club nights take place. The modern restaurant serves food from 7p to 10p with delicious main courses such as tagliatelli pollo and crispy Szechuan duck.

Cozy, groovy, kitch, retro-cool and a den of 60's and 70's hip decor. With an atmosphere that's out there, Baby Jupiter shines brightly. This cosmic hideaway is decked out in purple velvet, orange fish bowl lights and film posters painted on the walls. A soundtrack of funk, jazz, soul, indie and psyche orbits the place. You'll hear tunes from The Farm's cover of 'Stepping Stone', Chapterhouse's 'Pearl', Nine Inch Nails' 'Wish' or The Pixies' 'Dig For Fire'. Have a super nova time.

Basics

Infamous house night
8 Harrison Street
Harrison Street (off New Briggate)
Leeds LS1 6PA
United Kingdom
+44 113 244 9474
Dave Beer's renowned house night is very popular with Leeds' stylish set. The friendly crowd here are always well up for the funky house they play. The Mint Club is a small and relaxed venue and there is even a garden area where you can chill out in the summer and take a breather when it all gets a bit too much inside. Basics is packed every Saturday, so come and see what all the fuss is about for yourself.

Bondi Beach Bar

Fun-seekers welcome
Quebec Street
City Square
Leeds LS1 8DS
United Kingdom
+44 113 243 4733
Say hello to the latest addition to Leeds' club scene - the Bondi Beach Bar. Formerly Planet Earth, the club's facelift - complete with beach hut-style interior and bikini-clad bar staff - may give the venue a more tropical feel, but it hasn't lost its cheesy appeal. A lively mix of students and fun seeking twenty and thirty somethings come here to shake their stuff on the famous revolving dance floor to the latest chart beats and golden oldies. The brilliant cocktail menu and cheap drink deals ensure that the good times continue all night long. If you're up for some unpretentious fun, this is the place to come.

Casa Latina

Latino music for salsa dancing
6 St. Peter's Square
St Peter's Square
Leeds LS9 8AH
United Kingdom
Held at The Wardrobe, this is Leeds' best night for salsa, soul and Latin American sounds. It is also one of the few nights in Leeds that almost anybody would love. It's got an extremely unpretentious atmosphere and nobody can resist those Latin beats. It fills up every week, with all kinds of people of all ages who want a really good dance. If you're not a natural, you can turn up early for lessons. The dancer, Christina Da Silva, gives classes from 8pm onwards. Entry is £5.

If music is your God, you'll worship The Church of Pop. It's got to be one of the most bizarre nights out in Leeds with three 'chapels' devoted to converting the seething masses to the delights of pop, soul and Madchester sounds. The likes of Father Danatello L'Maximus and Sister Rode Helena play resurrected hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s to a lively congregation of happy, young revellers sporting dog collars and habits. Wild, wacky and ever so slightly weird.

Cooker

Always popular, very stylish!
Merrion Street
6-9 Grand Arcade
Leeds LS1 6PG
United Kingdom
+44 113 242 6116
Get down and get funky at this very stylish venue. With three floors of funk and soul music you will never get bored, even if you just spend the night staring up at the amazingly spangly disco balls! Generally, the crowd seem unpretentious, they are, however, as attractive and trendy as the Atrium's modern interior. Wear something pretty smart, otherwise you may end up feeling quite under-dressed and out of place. There are often impressive guest DJs, great live bands, and respected resident DJs from Leeds. Admission: free before 11p; £4 after

Evolution

Big, commercial club venue
9 Kirkstall Road
Leeds LS4 2DG
United Kingdom
+44 113 263 2632
One of the city's many gigantic purpose-built clubbing venues for really commercial club nights, Evolution doesn't have half the character of a lot of Leeds' smaller clubs. Its size does have advantages, though - the massive numbers it packs in means that you can see top DJs for a lot less than you'd pay in other places. A range of Asian-inspired club nights are also held here, often with a bhangra and R'n'B vibe. Courtesy coaches run to Evolution from City Square every 15 minutes on Saturday night from 9.30pm till midnight. The club requests smart attire with no jeans or trainers/sneakers.

Held every F at the Fruit Cupboard this fun-filled night invites anyone and everyone to get down to the most danceable music ever made. There are two rooms packed full of disco from DJs Liam Frisco, Amanda Hammond and their guests. The smaller 'champagne' bar plays classic, old skool hits whilst the main room plays boppy, groovy tracks, from the 70s right through to the 90s. With a clientele of cool, young things, this is definitely not your average disco. No jeans or trainers.

Fruit Cupboard

Funky, compact venue
52-54 Call Lane
Leeds LS1 6DT
United Kingdom
+44 113 243 8666
The recent revamp has given this smart, compact club a real boost. The cool blue decor and stylish furnishings just ooze sophistication - a bit like the immaculately dressed crowd who turn up here night after night. If you just can't wait to get in and get on down, there's a pre-club bar which offers plenty of choice at cheap prices. Don't miss Friday night's Frisco Disco - a funky house and disco night with respected local DJs, Liam Frisco and Amanda Hammond. If r n' b and garage are your thing, come here on a Saturday night for the incredible Ucci night. Smart dress code.

Garage

Indie and alternative music with a mixed crowd
Swinegate
Swinegate
Leeds LS1 4AG
United Kingdom
+44 113 244 1573
http://www.thecockpit.co.uk
The Cockpit welcomes a very mixed crowd on Saturdays. A warm and inviting atmosphere is derived from the liberal attitude and dress policy in the dark Cockpit club. The main room plays underground hits from yesteryear; Blondie, The Smiths, REM and others. An energetic second room plays more upbeat ska, punk and hip hop from the likes of Beck and the Smashing Pumpkins. The small room at The Cockpit plays more commercial guitar hits.

Hardcore house all-nighter
Merrion Street
The Grand Arcade, Merrion Street
Leeds LS1 6PQ
United Kingdom
+44 113 243 9963
http://www.glasshouse2000.co.uk
A visit to this nightclub is well worth it, but you'll need plenty of stamina to keep up with the pace. It is upfront, in-your-face hard house all the way here and the crowd seem to love it. The decadent clientèle subscribes to a crazy, exhibitionist dress sense. Heaven and Hell respects membership of the event and you can become a member by e-mailing them from their website. If you are in the mood for a heavy after-hours club, then the brilliant atmosphere and friendly staff will make you glad you came.

Jumpin' Jaks

Live music and lots of laughs
Quebec Street
Leeds LS1 4DS
United Kingdom
+44 113 242 4333
It may have had an expensive facelift, but don't expect Jumpin' Jaks to be any the classier for it. Attached to the Majestyk in City Square, this club is still the place to be if you want uncomplicated dancing, drinking and lots of laughs. The highlight of this intimate venue's lively week is undoubtedly Wednesdays Stars in your Eyes - an absolute must if you want a good chuckle. The impersonators are so dreadful that you might spend the entire night working out who they're mimicking. Smart dress at weekends.

Magic

Funky weekend house night
Quebec Street
City Square
Leeds LS1 4DS
United Kingdom
+44 113 242 4333
http://www.majestyk.co.uk
Majestyk on Saturday aims to be the place to be seen. Stylish people and brilliant music ensure it lives up to its intentions. DJ Greg sets the decks on fire with a funky blend of house, disco and soul that ensures the crowd keep dancing all night long. The unreal drinks promotions that associate Majestyk with a large student clientele are thin on the ground on a Saturday but plenty of alcohol-induced fun is still on the cards. The Majestyk door staff appreciate a well-dressed crowd, especially at the weekend.

Mint

Quality dance club
8 Harrison Street
Leeds LS1 6PA
United Kingdom
+44 113 244 3168
This stylish club was created by legendary Leeds club promoter Dave Beer. It's a good looking venue with a glass block bar, Evian-sponsored outdoor garden and trendy 20-something clientele. The club's reputation barks louder than its bite seemingly: even though it still pulls in big name DJs, it has trouble attaining the atmosphere it once did. Still, it's worth going on a Saturday night for the infamous Basics, featuring the best of house for discerning music lovers.

Po Na Na

Stylish Moroccan-inspired club
2 Waterloo House, Assembly Street
Assembly Street
Leeds LS2 7DA
United Kingdom
+44 113 243 3247
A capacious venue, Leeds' Po Na Na attracts twenty-somethings that love to dance. Wooden floors, Moorish decor, palm trees, a balcony and a wide range of cocktails associate the club with a more affluent clientele than other clubs in Leeds. Although it's popular, Po Na Na's midweek events sometimes lack the customers needed to get a good atmosphere. Thursday's revolving schedule includes mostly hip hop events whilst Friday's The Northern Line is a busy funk and hip hop night. On Saturdays guest DJs play funk, hip hop and soul.

Space

Modern, fashionable club
Duncan Street
Leeds LS1 6NJ
United Kingdom
+44 113 246 1030
Stylish and minimalistic, this 650 capacity club has a real buzz thanks to its trendy crowd and heavy-duty sound system. Midweek drinks deals are worth looking out for but note that the small 'VIP' bar at the raised corner of the club has much higher drinks prices than at the two larger bars. The wide range of events ensures that there is something for everyone here. Tuesday's feature is the student-orientated party night Chopper. Base is the weekly hard house night. Uplifting house music attracts a slightly older crowd for Union on Friday and Stereo on Saturday.

Speed Queen

Flamboyant weekly house night
Somers Street
19-21 Somers Street
Leeds LS1 2RG
United Kingdom
+44 113 246 8287
This has got to be the campest, most flamboyant night out in Leeds. It's about a fifty-fifty mix of gay and straight clubbers and anyone with a tolerant attitude will enjoy themselves and be made very welcome. There is a mix of speed garage and house downstairs and funky stuff upstairs. It's not really the music that most people come for though, it's to dance and have a good time. Speed Queen packs out the Warehouse every third Saturday of every month and it gets pretty hot. Luckily, you can get an ice pop to suck on from the sweet shop upstairs. Most of the clientele dress to impress with outfits that range from the original to the frankly outrageous.

Wardrobe

Highly regarded bar, club and restaurant
6 St. Peters Square
St. Peters Square
Leeds LS9 8AH
United Kingdom
+44 (0)113 383 8800
http://www.thewardrobe.co.uk/
This cool venue is home to a renowned restaurant and well-stocked cocktail bar on the ground floor, an exhibition gallery on the first floor, and a rocking basement club which features Friday night's Cuban groove extravaganza Casa Latina. The popular Yardbird Suite on Saturday nights has now been laid to rest and has been replaced by a new series of events hosted by DJs and MCs—check the website for forthcoming events. The Wardrobe Restaurant is pricey yet luxurious with a Mediterranean-inspired menu that is served from midday to 3p and 5:30p to 10p. Millefeuille of Aubergine and Parmesan Risotto are just two of the highlights. Another innovation is the introduction of the tasty Round Midnight menu from 10:30p.

Wendy House

Popular alternative Goth night
Leeds University Union
Leeds LS2 9JT
United Kingdom
http://the wendyhouse.org.uk
This 1980s alternative, punk, Indie-Goth night has been on for a couple of years and has become massively popular. Even though it is in the University Union, it's not only students who come here. The Wendy House has a following of people who really want to get dressed up in their scariest looking clothes and jump about to pop-rock music that you don't get to hear in many other clubs these days. The drinks are cheap too.
