Top cuisine in a convivial setting |
60 Hope Street Liverpool, Merseyside L1 9BZ United Kingdom +44 151 707 6060 |
Originally a gentleman's club, the interior of this club is now decorated in funky vibrant colours while still retaining an air of chic sophistication. Diners have a choice of sumptuous starters including goat's cheese and vegetable tart, which can be followed with dishes such as Seared Turbot served with crab and saffron hash or possibly the piedmontase pepper, roast vegetables and mozzarella. A comfortable and informal bar can be found in the basement that serves lighter meals, coffee, wine and cocktails. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Informal venue for intimate dining |
12 Smithdown Place Penny Lane Liverpool, Merseyside L15 9EH United Kingdom +44 151 734 0202 |
For many years Penny Lane consisted of a group of lacklustre shops, which must have left many tourists slightly bemused as to what the fuss was all about. However, things have noticeably taken a turn for the better in recent years. The best of the bunch is probably The Ark, where the dark chunky furniture, whitewashed walls and decorative foliage create an elegant setting that is perfect for an intimate rendezvous or a pleasant light lunch. The menu and is served by the happiest, attentive staff you could wish for. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Brick walls and a stone floor create an ideal background for huge leather sofas and candlelit tables, while the decor includes a mixture of 1970's-style panels and suggestive artwork. The upstairs Grill, complete with great views and decorative lighting, offers an excellent range of fancy burgers, kebobs and specialty dishes. Mellow moods and Mexican bites |
621 Smithdown Road Liverpool, Merseyside L15 5AG United Kingdom +44 151 734 5555 |
Situated within the Penny Lane area, this restaurant has recently been expanded due to increased popularity. From the unpolished wooden floor and mismatched rustic furniture to the flickering candlelight, the ambience is about as mellow and relaxing as you can get. The narrow front bar area can get very packed on a busy night, but no one seems to mind the friendly crush. The main eating area, tucked behind an alcove, is more spacious and provides plenty of seating. The menu mainly consists of Mexican cuisine with plenty of variations including Texas-style Sirloin Steak, Cajun Salmon and many vegetarian dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |
