This is a great club for meeting people and seems to attract a lot of singles between 30-40 years old. Surprisingly, the decor in Aquilla (which looks like the designs you find on Ancient Greek pottery) actually looks really good, and the swimming pool seems more relaxing than exercise inducing. Facilities include a gym, large studio (boxercise, ski fitness and yoga) and therapy treatments (from massage to allergy testing). Personal trainers are available if you want to get yourself into top condition, but those after a bit more pampering will find sun beds and a health and beauty salon. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This club, in beautiful Hyde Park, has a small club house with six high quality outdoor courts. Mini golf, petanque and lawn bowling are offered too, and the club has a refreshingly diverse clientele. Tennis lessons (group and private, for all ages and levels) and social play are available at reasonable prices, and coaches can be hired without prior arrangement on the day you play (although its best to book a lesson in advance as they tend to get very busy). The courts are open to the public, but if you'd like advance bookings, reduced fees and other discounts, it's more profitable to buy an annual membership. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This University-run facility is also open to the general public, either on a membership or pay-as-you-go basis. It's basic, but unbelievably cheap, combining good facilities with a great atmosphere. The centre houses squash courts, tennis courts, a gym, a pool and a dance studio. The pool is for tuition and lane swimming only. Membership costs £90 a year (with no joining fee) and gives the member facility discounts, while kids can take part in activity weeks in the school holidays for £25 a day. Review © 2007, Wcities |
