Great modern British food |
17 Mossop Street South Kensington London, London SW3 2LY +44 20 7581 0005 |
"The Cod" is no ordinary gastropub. Situated at the bottom of restaurant-heavy Draycott Avenue, it's always buzzing with Chelsea locals. The restaurant, which serves excellent modern British food, is separated from the rest of the layout in a rectangular, airy room with a retractable glass roof which is great for summer dining. The one-page menu is full of simple, fresh and delicious items, like the ubiquitous marinated aubergine and mozzarella starter, pan-fried tomato risotto and British mainstays like grilled calf's liver and salmon fishcakes. Desserts are wickedly sweet, as all British desserts should be. A perfect place for after-work drinks and a meal to rival any of the nearby Brompton Cross fare - prices reflect this and are more comparable to those found in restaurants than pubs.
