Contemporary cuisine, attractive ambience |
49 Frith Street Soho London, London W1D 4SG +44 20 7734 5183 / +44 871 075 1621 |
One of the first modern British establishments, the Soho branch of Alastair Little continues to shine through with European-inspired, Italian-bent cuisine, even if it's been eclipsed somewhat by more recent restaurant additions to the area. Alastair Little was not only one of the pioneers of contemporary cuisine, but also partisan to the first wave of minimalism. Informal and intimate, the restaurant's simple surround of wooden floors, white tablecloths and blue chairs doesn't at all detract from the continuously changing menu, which presents ravishing recipes of French fish soup with rouille, pumpkin and ricotta ravioli, and raspberry panna cotta. The wine list is short but sweet, with an emphasis on bottles from Italy and New Zealand. A second Little branch can be found in at 136A Lancaster Road, Ladbroke Grove, W11. Review © 2009, Wcities |
