Bam-Bou

French/Vietnamese
1 Percy Road
Fitzrovia
London, London W1T 1DB
+44 20 7323 9130
This French/Vietnamese restaurant, the latest venture of restaurateur extraordinaire Mogens Tholstrup, follows in the footsteps of similar haunts in Paris and New York. The decor is colonial - rattan chairs, bamboo, khaki-attired waiters, yet sleek, and the dark, slightly seedy upstairs bars will make you feel like you're in the private opium den of a wealthy townhouse owner. For some reason, this place isn't overrun with people, but it is still popular, so book to be safe. Now you also have to be a member of the bar to get in at weekends. The food is as expected, that's to say 'easy on the Western palate', but spiced up with Asian touches like lemongrass, ginger and coconut. Expect favorites like spring rolls and stir-fried chicken served with a twist. People not completely clued up on the Pacific Rim/fusion genre will love the food!
