Until recently the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Barbican Theatre still puts on a quality blend of performances - usually starting at 7p for evening shows and 2p for matinees. The theatre seats an epic 1,144 people with space for eight wheelchairs. The Pit, a smaller theatre on the lower level, stages more experimental work, including plays by new writers.
