Just around the corner from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, lies Café des Amis—a restaurant and wine bar popular among London's theatregoers. Splendid modern French fare is served in equally avant garde surroundings—light wooden flooring and bold coloured seating. Downstairs is a dark wine bar where you can dust off a good vintage before, or after, a show. Main dishes include pot roast shank of lamb, char grilled escalope of calf's liver, poached smoked haddock, and the standard steak and frites. Set lunches are available.
