Snug and straightforward Spanish fare |
63 Old Compton Street Soho London, London W1D 6HT +44 20 7494 1271 |
Ignore the urge to assume that this is a tourist-driven concern. Ignore also the Soho sex shops amongst which Cafe España nestles. Just dive straight in and sample as wide a selection of tapas as you can muster. This bustling establishment offers staple, hearty Spanish fare at excellent value for money amid a friendly melting pot of Soho regulars. The traditional range of tapas costs between £2-5, including mejillones a la marina, which is as ample a portion of mussels as you could wish for. Main courses are equally generous and the chuletas de cordero a la brasa (grilled lamb chops) costs around £9, as does the house wine and there are some good Spanish bottles on the list. Turnaround tends to be quick but without feeling hurried. Review © 2009, Wcities |
