Café Rouge never intended to win any Michelin stars. What it does, it does well. It has become a familiar sight in almost all major cities and towns in the United Kingdom and it has still maintained the strict standards that ensure you will get a good, unpretentious meal. The decor is almost the same in all branches - a tobacco yellow colour on the walls and wooden furnishing which produces a warm rustic feel. The clientele is mixed - from tourists to locals, and the service is friendly and attentive. Although the menu is predominantly French, it shows some clear adaptations to the English palate. The Toulouse sausages come with mash and the croque monsieur is more like a ham and cheese toastie; youre much better off opting for the baguettes and fries, which are delicious.
