Cassia Oriental takes up the Nouveau oriental baton with style, serving up authentic, far-East Asian food suitably jazzed up for the elegant Mayfair surroundings. Think 1920s Shanghai and you're almost there - sleek and tranquil, as opposed to the flash and garish. The food is excellent and, surprisingly for the area, reasonably priced. The Vietnamese Banh Tom - a fried sweet potato and prawn cake - is divine, as are the ubiquitous Shredded-Duck Pancakes, which are served with a thicker pancake that's reminiscent of Banh-Baos - light, rice-flour sweet buns. And for herbivores, the crispy Tofu is highly recommended. But why does the Chinese dessert menu feature chocolate mousse? Ah, well. Who's complaining? Review © 2009, Wcities |
