Located amongst the bars and restaurants of Fulham Road, you could be forgiven for mistaking Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for a shopping centre. Opened in 1993, the hospital provides treatment for both NHS and private patients. This hospital was designed with the ethos that recovery from illness might be aided by visual and performance arts, which explains the large number of paintings and sculptures that adorn the walls of the corridors. More than a few local employees visit the hospital on Thursday lunchtimes, when professional artists of all styles come in to give free concerts and performances. Review © 2009, Wcities |
