See in the Chinese New Year in style |
Trafalgar Square London, London W1V 7LA United Kingdom enquiries@londontouristboard.co.uk |
The Chinese New Year falls in January or February each year. The large Chinese population of London celebrates its culture with a noisy and bright procession of musicians, lion costumes, dancers and martial artists making their way through the streets from Trafalgar Square. Later, more dancing takes place in Chinatown itself, and food stalls selling delicious Chinese delicacies line the streets. All in all, the atmosphere is fantastic and admission is free. 5 Newburgh Street London W1F 7RG United Kingdom +44 20 7287 4941 http://www.levi.com/ |
This smallish, minimalist boutique is a hidden portal that's easy to miss but well worth discovering. The window displays themselves are a visual feast. Owned by Levi Strauss, the stock comes mainly from the denim giant, but features their latest Red Label clothing as well as limited edition and vintage gear. The shop has also commissioned artists to specially customize jeans. The rest of the merchandise is a mix of unusual T-shirts, arty books, records and one-off collectibles. Be sure to check out the art on display in the basement which is a showcase for young artists such as graphic/sleeve artist Andy Votel, best known for his work with Twisted Nerve and Badly Drawn Boy.
