Fashionable vegetarian cafe |
31 Neal Street Covent Garden London, London WC2H 9PR +44 20 7836 9072 |
There's often a quick-moving queue outside this small premises, but the vegetarian cooking is scrumptious and served up in large portions. Takeaways are sold from the kitchen on the ground floor, or you can join the queue descending to the basement dining room. Busy staff pile high the earthenware bowls with nutritious grub from Red Lentil and Tomato Soup to innovative salads made from cracked wheat and butter beans. A hands-on, co-operative atmosphere of a hippy yesteryear pervades - if you truly desire you can sit on a cushion in the alcove. Conditions can get a tad cramped, but it is eternally popular and constitutes staple eateries on the student map. There's no license and no charge for corkage. Review © 2009, Wcities |
