There is no place like the Gate Theatre for international drama. It specialises in works written by non-British authors written in their native languages or English. Don't worry about the language barriers - the performances are highly visual and musical so the plays' beauty and message are often clearly communicated. The Gate operates on a seasonal basis and there are usually three or four seasons a year. One annual event is the East goes West season, which features Eastern European plays. The theatre's directors scour the region's countries for theatrical potential and benevolently raise funds to bring the troupes over to this small venue. It's worth checking since the Gate is amongst London's best fringe venues though The Prince Albert below is somewhat less enchanting. You should have no problems finding somewhere else to drink before the show in the buzzing Notting Hill Gate area.
