This is one of the grandest restaurants at the Dorchester Hotel, and the perfect place to celebrate traditional British cuisine. The dining room is unashamedly luxurious, with a gilded ceiling, tapestries, and Spanish colonial touches. And the food is top-notch with few concessions to fads. Such classics as Angus Beef and Roast Loin of Lamb wrapped in Cumberland ham are presented on old-fashioned trolleys with the requisite side dishes, such as Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. Vegetarian? Well, there are a few dishes, such as Stilton and Leek Tart. But far better to enjoy the carnivorous delights of chicken livers, served on young spinach with marinated wild mushrooms, or wild smoked Scottish salmon. Review © 2009, Wcities |
