Victorian museum and boating pond |

If you're ever at a loose end, head down to Gunnersbury Park. Besides the boating pond, the pitch and putt golf course, playground and cafe, there is a Victorian museum, which is well worth the trek. Once the home of the Rothschilds, the museum holds a wealth of Victorian material as well as various, changing exhibitions. Workshops ranging from the Romans, to World War II and the Tudors are hosted and make an enjoyable hands-on history lesson. The museum also hosts monthly special activities like "Kitchen Capers", which invites children to dress up in Victorian costumes and play-act and take part in with good old-fashioned parlour games. Another fun event is the 'Too Many Cooks' day, which comprises cooking demonstrations in the large Victorian kitchen, followed by a cream tea. Admission is free. Review © 2009, Wcities |
