Chinatown is intriguingly riddled with fragrant food stores and little grocery shops. Loon Fung is one of the larger, but no less hectic, establishments and the closest thing to being a normal supermarket in the vicinity. Chinese residents, tourists and locals frequent the plentiful aisles to stock up on bok choy, oyster sauce, frozen, dried and fresh seafood, spices, huge bags of jasmine rice and anything else you might need to create an authentic Chinese kitchen, including the utensils. The fresh meat section at the rear sells just about every edible part of a pig, including tails! East meets west with a more traditional selection of fruit and veg alongside the exotic tamarinds, mooli, durian, and chow chow that colourfully adorn the outside stalls. Review © 2009, Wcities |
