Flavors of the Indian sub-continent come alive at Mantra, one of Soho's top-notch vegetarian restaurants. The eatery calls itself an "An Indian Jewel in the heart of a heaving Metropolis", and for good reason. Traditional cuisine meets contemporary styles to produce an innovative concoction that tastes just as good as it sounds. Start with a tall glass of Indian Sauvignon Blanc to prepare the way for some hot samosas and a sweet mango chutney. Close on the heels would be a serving of spicy channa curry and a soothing side of palak paneer, or the mixed vegetable coconut curry with aloo gobi. Platters, wraps, burgers and sandwiches come with interesting fillings and make for an excellent snack. At dessert, the sinfully sweet gulab jambu with ice cream is a must-have. Those looking for something unique could try the "vegetarian chicken" dishes. What could that possibly be? Come and find out! Review © 2009, Wcities |
