Japanese cuisine gone mod |

Get a load of some jazzed-up sushi and sashimi at Mika, located in famous Notting Hill, close to North Kensington. The canteen-style layout may act as a put-off, but those brave enough to delve deeper are rewarded with sumptuous fare from the land of the rising sun. The traditional meal of Dom Buri—rice, dashi, meat and veggies—is enormously satisfying; should you choose this option, a follow-up trip to sample other selections from the menu would be in the offing. A typical Japanese lunch is incomplete without miso soup, rice, noodles and the tongue-tickling pickles. Fresh fish and vegetables arrive daily from the nearby markets—the Kabayaki eel deserves special mention. Review © 2009, Wcities |
