Belonging to The Breakfast Group that gathers top London social spots like Bar Rumba, The Social, POP and Saint around its table, is this stunning mock Vietnamese Opium den. A distinctly warm and orange oriental aura permeates the intimate partitions of ornate wooden screens and French colonial-style furniture. The entrance is exquisitely fashioned into a gold tunnel leading to the main arena with three pagodas, sinking, sumptuous sofas, and a winter garden with a fountain and six foot high gold Shiva. Cuisine imitates decor here, serving delicate Vietnamese dishes with a French twist. Try Nam Xoa (wok-fried shitake, enochi and cloud ear mushrooms with garlic and chilli) followed by Ca Chein Sot Ca Chua (Pan-fried fillet of sea bass with oriental tomatoes and dill on a water spinach bed) with steamed sticky rice or a Green Papaya Salad. Two wine lists proffer viniculture from France and the wider world, while the wondrous array of cocktails taste the exotic. Sultry songs from French chanteuses set off the ambience beautifully.
