Dated charm and eclectic cuisine |
94 Grosvenor Road Victoria London, London SW1V 3LF +44 20 7828 6560 |
You'd expect to see an old MP dining his (equally old) long-term mistress here - Pomegranates is near the House of Commons and has a basement restaurant whose walls have probably been privy to a fair number of scandals. It is like a gentlemen's club that has tried to go sexy and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work, but the eclectic menu and intimate atmosphere ensure a loyal clientele. Although an old British haunt (think prawn cocktails and cigars), the restaurant's menu has such choices as Cantonese Roast Duck which is probably due to the influence of the Filipino chefs. British stalwarts such as steak and kidney pie and Aberdeen Angus beef are also well prepared. Review © 2009, Wcities |
