Huge pizzas, hugely popular |
37 Old Compton Street Soho London, London W1D 5JX +44 20 7287 3920 |
With pizzas being compared to the Millennium Dome, flying saucers, or a solar eclipse, it'll come as no surprise that gargantuan, crispy, frisbee-flat pizzas are the main draw at this diminutive Soho Italian joint. The surprise is however, how on earth the pizzas fit onto such small tables so snugly set side by side. Although quantity sometimes wins over quality, toppings are generous too, with the Pulcinella featuring among the favourite traditional Italian choices, piled high with sausage, ham, artichoke, mushroom, olives and a fried egg. Quaint and with lots of character, a cream and black wrought iron interior is offset against a warm red façade and a couple of tables jostling to stay on the pavement. Bookings not accepted.
