French arthouse |
Brunswick Square Brunswick Square London, London WC1N 1AW +44 20 7837 8402 |
Located near the UCL, this two-screen basement cinema features arthouse and foreign language films, which, because the Renoir is smack in the middle of a university neighbourhood, unsurprisingly attract students and intellectual types. Some of the showings have included At the Height of Summer (A La Verticale De L'Ete), an exquisitely shot tale of three sisters and their secrets from the Vietnamese director of The Scent of Green Papayas, and Startup.com, a spoof documentary about two unscrupulous, money-grabbing dot.com entrepreneurs. Admission: £3.50-£6.80. Review © 2009, Wcities |
