Satsuma, one of Soho's latest restaurants, is a very hip Japanese set-up à la Wagamama. The modern frontage and interior is rather like an empty Bento box – simple and stark, but functional and effective. The name Satsuma comes from the 1877 rebellion fought by the former Samurai of the Satsuma domain, but here you'll find the usual Japanese treats of tempura, teriyaki, noodles and sushi delivered by a waitress rather than an impersonal conveyor-belt. Service is good and quick despite overwhelming customs. The long queue outside gives testament to the this suhi joint's popularity. Review © 2009, Wcities |
