The Traditional English Stiff Upper Lip |
Marsham Street Marsham Court London, London SW1P 4LA +44 20 7834 9552 |
Almost stolidly English is Shepherd's restaurant in Westminster. It's wood-panelling, 19th-century accessories, European portraits and dimmed interiors make it a typical gentleman's club, patronized mainly by affluent citizens and celebrities. However, the monotony of the decor is broken by the presence of dressed-up teddy-bears in the private dining room. The menu is typically British - Hot Salmon and Potato Salad, Lobster Salad, Monkfish Wrapped in Bacon with Ratatouille, Steak and Kidney Pie and Roast Rib of Beef. The service is impeccable and the prices, reasonable, though they escalate with the addition of drinks and cigars. A smart, formal dress-code is advised. Review © 2009, Wcities |
