Alara Wholefoods

Great takeaway lunches
110-112 Camley Street
Bloomsbury
London, London NW1 OPF
United Kingdom
+44 20 7837 1172
http://www.alara.co.uk/
Alara Wholefoods offer a superb selection of vegan and organic delights that are perfect for a healthy and revitalising lunch. The store stocks the usual range of breads, cheeses and fruit and veg, but also has a delicious home-made muesli and even a range of cruelty-free cosmetics and vitamin pills. And, if you fancy getting sloshed the healthy way, there is a large selection of organic wines and beers, which, besides being superior in taste, have the undoubted advantage of being free of pesticides, fish scales and oil, pig's blood and a whole host of other undesirable slaughterhouse by-products. They also deliver, so you can feel virtuous without even leaving your desk. Perfect.

Three shops but one salubrious quest. No.30 is the nuthouse, literally - find pecans, walnuts, almonds, currants, dried apple rings or mango strips there. Some grains and pulses are stocked alongside organic clothing. Next door at No.32 a wonderful aroma permeates. It contains a wicked bakery producing amazing chocolate brownies, wheat-free bread, croissants, numerous types of bread and even gluten-free polenta cake. The alcohol-tolerant among you will be overwhelmed by the 200 organic varieties stacked here. Green-Cross-Code yourself onto the other side of the road and enter the fruitopia which is No.33. Organic's the word and what a marvellous leguminous selection, with dried herbs and spices to boot.

Primrose Hill's new gem is a boutique selling beautiful designer clothes, artwork, furniture and home interior objects such as vases and mirrors. It has nothing to do with S & M, the owners' first names just happen to start with those letters. This is another one of these shops where you can get all sorts of things under one roof, which makes it ideal for stylish people with little time on their hands. Prices are no doubt suited to the locals who have money burning in their pockets.

This Camden boutique specialises in second-hand cashmere, lovingly restored to its former glory. It also stocks jigsaw cashmere jumpers made from pieces of recycled cashmere that look like those trendy Fake jumpers available at places like Harrods. There's also loads of other stock, both new and vintage, including beaded cardigans and bags from the fifties, which are a bit pricier than everything else.
